Minority Caucus Congratulates John Boadu, New NPP National Executives

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has congratulated the newly elected NPP national executives, pledging its support to National Chairman John Boadu and the party’s leadership as it begins preparations towards the 2028 general election.

The executives were elected at the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3.

Mr Boadu, a former General Secretary, secured 2,888 votes to win the chairmanship, while Justin Frimpong Kodua retained his position as General Secretary with 4,486 votes. More than 7,000 delegates participated in the conference.

In a statement, the Minority Caucus said the outcome reflected the choices made by delegates and congratulated both the winners and unsuccessful candidates for participating in the internal contest.

Minority Praises Kojo Bamba’s Election

The Caucus singled out Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, following his election as First Vice Chairman.

Mr Bamba topped the vice chairmanship contest, with Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea also securing places in the party’s vice chairmanship structure.

The Minority described Mr Bamba’s election as evidence that grassroots members had been given a stronger voice within the party’s national decision making structure.

It also praised delegates for what it described as their discipline and commitment to the NPP’s internal democratic process.

“The peaceful and orderly manner in which the conference was conducted is a credit to the NPP and a strong example of internal democracy for our nation,” the Caucus said.

Losing Candidates Urged to Remain Involved

The Minority also reached out to candidates who were unsuccessful, stressing that their experience and political networks remained useful to the party.

“In victory or in defeat, we are one NPP,” the statement said.

John Boadu has similarly called for reconciliation following his election, extending what he described as a hand of partnership to his former competitors.

The Caucus also thanked the Electoral Commission, security agencies, party supporters and residents of Kumasi who assisted with the organisation of the conference.

Caucus Pledges Support to New Leadership

With the national executive elections completed, the Minority said it would work closely with the John Boadu led leadership and the party’s presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

The newly elected executives have already been sworn into office and are expected to serve four year terms, overseeing the NPP’s organisational activities and preparations for the next general election.

The Minority said the Kumasi conference had renewed its determination to strengthen cooperation between the party’s parliamentary wing and national leadership as the NPP reorganises for 2028.
