Ghanaian actor, comedian and media personality Seth Kwame Dzokoto has died at the age of 51, collapsing during a radio show at Owass Radio in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality on Thursday, October 22.
He was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to a source within the National Democratic Congress, the party to which he belonged. His death comes just weeks after photos of him looking visibly unwell circulated widely on social media.
Dzokoto's name became a household fixture in Ghana through his portrayal of Judge Koboo in Efiewura, one of the country's longest-running and most recognisable television productions.
The role cemented his place in Ghanaian entertainment and remained the performance most associated with his career.
He also hosted TV3's food and tourism programme Edziban, which took audiences through Ghanaian cuisine and local culinary traditions across different regions, showcasing a different side of his on-screen versatility beyond acting.
A Voice on Radio Too
Beyond television, Dzokoto built a career in radio broadcasting, working with stations including Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi.
Combined with his voice-over work in advertising and comedy, his career stretched across nearly every corner of Ghana's media landscape, making him as familiar by voice as he was by face.
Dzokoto also stepped into partisan politics, contesting the Tarkwa Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the NDC ticket in the 2016 general election. He did not win the seat, but the bid reflected an interest in public life that extended beyond his entertainment career.
His death leaves a noticeable gap in Ghana's entertainment industry, where he spent decades moving between acting, comedy, broadcasting and presenting, building relationships with audiences across multiple generations and regions.
