New Patriotic Party leader and 2028 presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has congratulated the party’s newly elected national executives, urging the new leadership to run an inclusive organisation as preparations begin for the next general election.
The NPP completed its national executive elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with former General Secretary John Boadu elected National Chairman and Justin Frimpong Kodua retaining his position as General Secretary.
Bawumia Pledges Support for New Leadership
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, Dr Bawumia said the election marked the completion of the party’s internal reorganisation.
He described the process as peaceful and transparent, adding that the outcome reflected the choice of delegates.
Dr Bawumia said he would provide the support needed for the John Boadu-led executives to build an inclusive party structure.
“In victory or in defeat, no talent should be left out in the 2028 campaign,” the statement said.
He has separately urged unsuccessful aspirants to remain active in the party, insisting that the end of the internal contest should also bring an end to competing camps.
The new executives have now been sworn into office, formally beginning their tenure.
Bawumia said the expectation is that the new leadership will immediately begin preparing the NPP organisationally for the 2028 election.
