Pope Leo XIV has officially released Magnifica Humanitas, the first encyclical of his pontificate, focusing on the ethical and social implications of artificial intelligence.
Signed on May 15 and published by the Holy See on May 25, the document outlines the Catholic Church’s social teaching for the AI era, addressing issues of human dignity, labor and the common good.
The encyclical places modern technological challenges within the tradition of landmark Church teachings, including Rerum Novarum, Centesimus Annus and Laudato Si'.
