The Adamus mining leases revocation has been upheld by Lands and Natural Resources Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, bringing a review petition by Adamus Resources Ltd to an end.
The Minister on Monday, August 10, 2026, confirmed the revocation of the company’s Akango, Salman and Nkroful mining leases with immediate effect.
The decision follows a review of a petition submitted by Adamus Resources after the leases were initially revoked on April 26, 2026.
Minister rejects review petition
The original revocation followed investigations which, according to the Ministry, established breaches of Ghana’s mining laws by the company.
Adamus subsequently petitioned the Lands Minister, asking him to reconsider the decision.
After reviewing the petition and the relevant matters, Mr Buah concluded that there was no basis to reverse the earlier decision.
The Minister has therefore “upheld the revocation of the company’s mining leases with immediate effect,” according to an update issued on Monday.
The latest decision puts the Minerals Commission in charge of the next phase of the process.
Minerals Commission takes over
The Minister has directed the Minerals Commission to assume administrative oversight of Adamus Resources and take steps to ensure an orderly transition.
The directive is also intended to prevent disruptions to operations during the transition period.
For workers at the company, the government has sought to draw a clear line between the revocation of the leases and their livelihoods.
The Minister assured employees that their jobs would be safeguarded throughout the process, stressing that the decision would not jeopardise their livelihoods.
Government said the action forms part of its broader position that mining companies must comply with Ghana’s laws and the conditions attached to mineral rights.
At the same time, the government said it remains committed to protecting jobs and legitimate investments in the mining sector.
The Adamus decision comes as authorities continue to tighten oversight of mining operations and enforcement of the conditions governing mineral rights in Ghana.
