Eric Tinkler has left Asante Kotoko with immediate effect after the club agreed to release the South African coach from his contract for personal reasons.
Kotoko confirmed the decision in a statement issued on Monday, September 28, saying the Board initially held discussions with Tinkler in an attempt to keep him at the club before eventually accepting his request.
“Both parties engaged in meaningful negotiations to avert the decision,” the club said, adding that it ultimately had to respect the coach’s position.
Kotoko Thank Tinkler for Short Stint
The Porcupine Warriors thanked Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment during what the club described as a “rather short stint.”
His departure comes after just four Ghana Premier League matches in charge, with Kotoko suffering a 2-0 home defeat to Aduana FC in his final game.
The club, however, attributed the separation to personal reasons rather than the result.
Kotoko said its sporting plans would continue under Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo, with the technical team expected to proceed with the club’s existing strategy.
The Board stressed that professionalism, commitment and focus remained central to achieving its targets for the season.
