Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has taken the lead in the latest NDC 2028 poll, opening a nine-point advantage over the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
The Global InfoAnalytics survey placed Dr Forson at 32 percent, up sharply from 22 percent in July. Mr Asiedu Nketia slipped from 27 percent to 23 percent over the same period.
The figures were published on Facebook on Monday, September 14, by the polling firm’s Executive Director, Mussa Dankwah.
Dr Forson was the only leading name to post a double-digit increase, turning what had been a five-point deficit in July into a clear lead.
Undecided delegates could reshape race
The contest remains unsettled. Twenty-eight percent of delegates declined to support any of the named potential candidates, down only slightly from 30 percent in July.
That undecided group is almost as large as Dr Forson’s current support and bigger than the backing recorded by Mr Asiedu Nketia.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu placed third with 5 percent, falling from 6 percent. Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah each secured 4 percent.
Professor Joshua Alabi improved from 1 percent to 2 percent, while Food and Agriculture Minister Eric Opoku remained at 1 percent.
Survey covers 3,615 delegates
The poll asked delegates “who should lead the NDC into the 2028 presidential election.”
Global InfoAnalytics interviewed 3,615 NDC delegates between September 11 and September 13. It reported a 99 percent confidence level and a margin of error of plus or minus 2.17 percentage points.
The latest results, capture preferences well ahead of the NDC’s formal selection process. They do not amount to candidate declarations or primary results.
For now, Dr Forson has momentum. The large undecided bloc means nobody has the race sewn up.
