Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have received a significant boost following a $2 million payment by Engineers & Planners Limited toward its $5 million pledge to support the Ghana national football team.

The contribution marks the first installment of a broader private sector commitment aimed at strengthening the team’s readiness for the global tournament in the United States.

Speaking at a brief ceremony on April 30, Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem confirmed that the funds had been transferred into a dedicated account for the national team.

He described the payment as symbolic, noting that it reflects growing collaboration between government and private entities in advancing sports development.

Commitment to National Development

At the event, Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Dzata Group Holdings, reaffirmed the business community’s commitment to national initiatives.

“This is just the beginning of that support to the country,” he said, assuring that the remaining balance of the pledge would be fulfilled over time.

The funding forms part of a broader strategy to mobilise resources for the Black Stars’ World Cup campaign.

Authorities believe increased private sector participation will enhance preparation, logistics, and overall team performance ahead of the tournament.
