The Boakye Agyarko campaign has received a major boost ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s internal elections, following the appointment of two senior party figures to lead his bid for National Chairman.
In a statement issued by the Office of Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, the former Energy Minister announced that former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, and former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, will take up key leadership roles in the campaign.
Henry Quartey has been named Campaign Manager, while Joe Wise will serve as Senior Campaign Advisor.
The announcement was made during what the campaign described as a “high-energy meeting” with volunteers backing Boakye Agyarko’s bid to lead the party into the 2028 general election cycle.
Focus on grassroots mobilisation and party rebuilding
According to the statement, the selection of the two political heavyweights reflects Boakye Agyarko’s intention to run a campaign rooted in grassroots mobilisation and internal party renewal.
The campaign said both men bring “an admirable track record of grassroots mobilization, sharp political acumen, and significant national influence,” adding that their combined experience in legislative affairs, party structures and governance gives the campaign a strong strategic foundation.
The statement also noted that the two leaders share Boakye Agyarko’s broader political objective of rebuilding the NPP into a more formidable force capable of securing victory in 2028.
Full national campaign team yet to be unveiled
While the top campaign leadership has now been announced, the Boakye Agyarko team said a full national campaign structure will be introduced in due course.
It indicated that the broader team will include experts in strategy, research, communications and operations as preparations intensify for the party’s internal contest.
