Chief of Staff Calls for Support for Young Entrepreneurs

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has described mentorship as a key pillar in building a stronger and more sustainable Ghanaian economy, urging established business leaders to invest in the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum 2026, Mr Debrah said long-term economic progress depends not only on capital and enterprise, but also on the willingness of successful individuals to share their knowledge and experience.

“No economy becomes truly strong when success is hoarded,” he said, calling on entrepreneurs, industrialists, financiers and corporate leaders to intentionally guide emerging business talents.

Mentorship ‘an economic strategy’

According to Mr Debrah, business leaders who have built successful ventures have a duty to do more than protect what they have created.

He said they must also help shape future leaders by opening doors and passing on lessons gained through experience. “Transfer not only capital, but wisdom, judgment, and discipline, as well as perspective,” he stated.

He also stressed that young entrepreneurs must be prepared to receive guidance with humility and discipline if they are to build enduring enterprises.

“No one bears anything enduring by rejecting counsel. Mentorship is not charity. It is an economic strategy,” he added.

Mr Debrah said effective mentorship can help reduce costly mistakes, nurture innovation and build resilient institutions, making it a crucial tool for expanding opportunities and strengthening Ghana’s long-term economic future.
