Newly elected NPP Chairman John Boadu has pledged to lead an inclusive and reconciliatory administration, insisting that the party must put its internal contest behind it and begin rebuilding towards the 2028 general election.

Mr Boadu was elected National Chairman at the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3. More than 7,000 delegates participated in the election of national officers. MyJoyOnline

In a statement issued on Monday, October 5, Mr Boadu thanked delegates, supporters, volunteers and his campaign team for backing his return to the party’s national leadership.

“This is not a victory for one person or one group. It is a victory for the NPP,” he said.

‘No Winners and Losers’

Mr Boadu extended an invitation to his former competitors, saying their experience and ideas would remain important to the party.

“From this moment, there are no winners and losers, only one NPP, united in purpose and determined to win in 2028,” he said.

His election followed a closely contested race that included former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, former National Chairman Paul Afoko and Sammy Crabbe, who announced a late alliance with Mr Boadu. MyJoyOnline

Party Structures, Youth Engagement in Focus

The new chairman said his administration would work with the General Secretary, regional and constituency executives, MPs, TESCON, external branches and other party groups to rebuild organisational structures and strengthen discipline.

He also identified youth engagement and the party’s presence in tertiary institutions as priorities.

“Unity does not mean uniformity,” Mr Boadu said, promising to “listen, consult and embrace good ideas, wherever they come from.”

He said the NPP’s recovery would depend on collective effort rather than any single chairman, flagbearer or faction.

Mr Boadu, who previously served as NPP General Secretary from 2018 to 2022, now leads the party’s national executive structure as it reorganises ahead of 2028.
