According to her, the Lordina Foundation has provided education support, healthcare services and financial empowerment opportunities to women and disadvantaged communities.

She also highlighted the Foundation’s role in supporting medical training scholarships for Ghanaian doctors through its partnership with the Merck Foundation.

The initiative has helped several medical professionals receive specialist healthcare training to improve healthcare delivery in the country.

Dr Kelej further praised Mrs Mahama’s advocacy for girls’ education through programmes such as the “More Than a Mother” campaign and the “Educating Linda” initiative, as well as her efforts to combat child marriage.

The First Lady was additionally recognised for supporting the annual Merck Foundation Media Recognition Awards, which encourage journalists to raise awareness about infertility stigma, maternal health and women’s empowerment across Africa and Asia.
