President John Dramani Mahama has commenced a two-day working visit to the Volta Region, with infrastructure, healthcare and direct public engagement forming the centrepiece of his itinerary.

The visit, under the government's #ResettingGhana initiative, begins in Juapong, where the President is expected to cut the sod for the construction of 18 model 24-hour economy markets to serve districts across the region.

Beyond the market project, President Mahama will visit the Peki College of Education and the University of Health and Allied Sciences at Sokode as part of his engagements with educational institutions.

He is also scheduled to inspect ongoing construction works on the Asikuma to Ho road being executed under the Big Push Programme. The tour will further take him to Akatsi North, where he will inaugurate the district's new Police Headquarters.

Accompanying the President are Ministers of State, heads of public institutions and Members of Parliament.

The visit will also include an educational durbar focused on the government's Free Primary Health Care programme, aimed at creating greater public awareness of the policy.

Town hall with chiefs and residents

The second day of the tour will see President Mahama hold a town hall meeting at Ho Technical University, where he is expected to engage chiefs, opinion leaders and residents on development priorities and key government interventions.

The forum is intended to give the government direct feedback from communities across the region while providing an opportunity to discuss ongoing projects and future plans.

President Mahama will also visit the Ho Sports Stadium to assess its current condition as part of his broader inspection of public infrastructure in the Volta Region. The tour forms part of the administration's continued regional engagements under the #ResettingGhana programme.
