The Tema Oil Refinery has stepped up efforts to strengthen its long term operations after its Managing Director, Edmond Kombat, met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation to discuss closer cooperation on domestic crude oil refining.
The meeting formed part of broader efforts to align both institutions with President John Dramani Mahama's vision of allocating Ghanaian crude oil for local refining, a policy expected to boost the country's downstream petroleum industry.
Focus on Strategic Collaboration
Discussions centred on crude oil supply, energy infrastructure and other strategic priorities considered essential to securing the refinery's future.
According to TOR, the engagement also provided an opportunity for both organisations to exchange views on developments within the energy sector and identify practical areas where collaboration could be strengthened.
The refinery described the meeting as productive, noting that it reinforced a shared commitment to building a sustainable and competitive downstream petroleum industry.
Officials from both institutions expressed their readiness to work together in support of the refinery's long term direction and a stronger national energy value chain.
The engagement marks another step in efforts to deepen institutional partnerships as Ghana seeks to maximise the value of its crude oil resources through increased domestic refining and improved coordination across the energy sector.
