The administration of US President Donald Trump has adjusted some visa appointments as the State Department begins a global training programme for consular officers.
A State Department spokesperson said the exercise would require appointment schedules to be modified while officers undergo the training. No definite timeline has been given for how long the process will last.
For applicants in Ghana, that creates an immediate question: will an already booked interview still go ahead?
For now, there is no blanket suspension of US visa applications from Ghana.
Some Interviews Could Be Rescheduled
Ghanaians with existing appointments could have their interviews moved to new dates if their slots fall within the period affected by the training exercise.

Training Comes Amid Tougher Immigration Scrutiny
The State Department says the training is intended to improve the consistency and depth of assessments conducted by consular officers.
It is also expected to strengthen scrutiny of whether applicants could become dependent on public benefits in the United States.
The adjustment comes as the Trump administration pursues a broader tightening of immigration enforcement during the president's second term.
Measures taken by the administration have affected both illegal and legal immigration, with tougher scrutiny applied to some visa and residency applications.
Some of those policies have also faced court challenges. According to the statement, a US judge recently struck down a policy suspending immigrant visa issuance to applicants from 75 countries after finding that it exceeded the Secretary of State's statutory authority.

For Ghanaians, the immediate issue is delay, not a shutdown of the visa system.
