Vice President Honours 52 Students at Independence Awards

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has participated in the President’s Independence Day Awards for School Children, celebrating academic excellence and character among young learners across the country.

Held under the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” the ceremony honoured 52 exceptional students drawn from all 16 regions of Ghana. The awardees represented both public and private institutions, including learners with visual and hearing impairments.

The students were recognised for their discipline, resilience and commitment to excellence — qualities described as reflective of the highest ideals of Ghana’s education system.

Addressing the awardees, the Vice President emphasised that while national prosperity depends on sound policies and strong infrastructure, it is ultimately sustained by the character, integrity and civic responsibility of citizens, particularly the youth.

She encouraged the students to remain focused on their goals, uphold integrity, respect authority and serve as role models within their communities.

The government, she reiterated, remains committed to advancing inclusive, equitable and quality education that equips every Ghanaian child with the knowledge, skills and values needed to thrive.

The ceremony reaffirmed the vision of a Ghana shaped by a generation that embodies excellence, integrity and leadership, a promise reflected in the achievements of this year’s award recipients.
