President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has attributed Ghana’s economic recovery to renewed investor confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.
Speaking at the Accra Reset event in New York on Monday, September 21, the Nigerian industrialist said Ghana’s recent economic improvement illustrates the importance of trust in attracting investment and supporting growth.
‘Money Follows Trust’
According to Mr Dangote, President Mahama’s approach to economic management has helped reassure investors about Ghana’s prospects.
He argued that the reported turnaround was not the result of extraordinary measures but decisions that helped restore confidence in the country’s leadership.
“He didn’t do any magic. He’s not a magician, but he did the right things,” Dangote said.
The businessman added that the Ghanaian experience demonstrates how confidence can influence the movement of capital.
“This has actually shown that money follows trust,” he stressed.
Investor Confidence Takes Centre Stage
Mr Dangote made the remarks during the Accra Reset gathering hosted by President Mahama on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The event brought together global leaders, development partners and business figures to discuss reforms to international development cooperation and stronger economic self-reliance.
His comments placed investor trust at the centre of the discussion about Ghana’s economic performance and the conditions needed to sustain investment.
