Carlos Queiroz has been reappointed as head coach of the Black Stars after reaching an agreement with the Ghana Football Association for a new coaching mandate.
The GFA announced the decision in Accra on Wednesday, September 2, confirming that Queiroz will begin his new assignment with the upcoming international window.
His previous mandate, which included leading Ghana at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, ended a few weeks ago.
New Mandate Begins
The new agreement follows discussions between Queiroz, the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
The Portuguese coach returns with considerable international experience and familiarity with the Black Stars, factors the GFA believes make him well placed to guide the team into its next phase.
The Association said the focus is now on building a successful new chapter for Ghana on the international stage.
“Further details on the new mandate and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme will be announced in due course,” the GFA said.
Black Stars Programme Ahead
Queiroz’s immediate task will be to prepare the team for the next international window as the technical team begins work on the new programme.
The GFA said it will provide more details on the mandate and upcoming fixtures later.
For now, Queiroz is back in charge, with Ghana looking to turn the next phase of the Black Stars programme into a more settled and successful campaign.
