CMC Rolls Out 24-Hour Operations Programme to Accelerate Cocoa Exports

The Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited is ripping up its traditional working schedules. To tackle chronic congestion and agonizing shipping delays, the state commodity trader is rolling out a massive 24-Hour Operations Programme.

The ambitious shift is specifically designed to eliminate the operational bottlenecks currently threatening the country’s competitive edge in the global cocoa market.

According to a press release issued in Accra on Friday, the overhaul revolves entirely around three core operational pillars: Offload 24, Load 24, and Export 24.

This continuous cycle means cocoa receipts from Licensed Buying Companies will no longer pause when the sun goes down. Deliveries to local processors and international shipment operations will run straight through the night.

Fixing the Take-Over Centres

For years, limited working hours created nightmare scenarios at designated Take-Over Centres. Trucks would pile up, documentation would stall, and expensive operational assets sat idle overnight. This new directive attacks those exact inefficiencies head-on.

The initiative actively mirrors the nonstop working schedules already adopted by allied stakeholders. Port authorities, Customs officials, shipping lines, and heavy-duty transporters have increasingly moved beyond conventional daytime hours. The trading firm is finally catching up to sync its rhythm with the rest of the supply chain.

By doing so, the subsidiary of the Ghana Cocoa Board expects to drastically cut down turnaround times. The agency stated the overhaul will "support faster cash-flow cycles while maintaining Ghana’s premium cocoa quality standards."

Phased Rollout and Security Upgrades

Flipping the switch to nonstop operations requires serious groundwork. Management confirmed that the implementation will be strictly phased.

They are prioritizing immediate infrastructure upgrades and extensive staff training. Running night shifts naturally demands tighter security and enhanced safety protocols, alongside heavy technology support to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.

The company insists it remains focused on building a "responsive, efficient and globally competitive cocoa marketing and export system" that delivers real value straight to local farmers and the national economy.
