The Ministry of Education has warned students and parents against fake CSSPS placement results circulating on social media, saying some placement slips have been digitally altered to create confusion.
In a statement issued on September 9, 2026, the Ministry said individuals were manipulating Computerized School Selection and Placement System slips and claiming that students’ original placements had been changed.
“The Ministry wishes to state unequivocally that these claims are false and misleading,” the statement signed by Press Secretary Hashmin Mohammed said.
Codes fail verification checks
Preliminary checks found that some of the documents shared online did not correspond with records generated by the official CSSPS platform.
According to the Ministry, the barcodes and QR codes appearing on the disputed slips did not match the placement details printed on them. Internal system records and audit logs also provided no support for the allegations being made.
The Ministry believes the documents were deliberately altered to give the impression that students had been moved from their original schools.
It described the circulation of the slips as a serious attempt to undermine public trust in the placement process while causing needless anxiety among students, parents and guardians.
Cyber Security Authority begins probe
The matter has been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other security agencies for investigation and possible action against those responsible.
Parents and candidates have been advised to verify placement information only through official CSSPS channels and avoid sharing unconfirmed claims online.
The Ministry said genuine complaints about placements would still be investigated through the proper channels. It also assured the public that the 2026 placement exercise would be managed with “transparency, fairness, integrity and accountability.”
For families checking school placements, the warning is simple: a screenshot shared on social media is not proof. The official CSSPS record remains the reliable source.
