GETFund Releases GH₵199.47m to Clear FSHS and TVET Perishable Arrears

The Ghana Education Trust Fund has released GH₵199.47 million to settle outstanding payments for perishable supplies under the Free Senior High School and Technical and Vocational Education and Training programmes.

The disbursement, made through three cheques, covers arrears owed to suppliers for deliveries spanning October to February under the Free Senior High School initiative and October to December for TVET institutions.

Officials say the payment is intended to ease financial pressures on suppliers who play a critical role in providing food and essential logistics to schools across the country.

The move is also expected to stabilise supply chains and ensure the uninterrupted provision of perishable goods to students, particularly in boarding institutions that depend heavily on regular deliveries.

The fund described the release as a reaffirmation of government’s commitment to meeting its financial obligations to service providers within the education sector.

By settling the arrears, authorities aim to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders and maintain confidence among suppliers supporting national education programmes.

The Ghana Education Service emphasised that timely payments remain critical to sustaining the smooth operation of both FSHS and TVET systems.

GETFund further indicated its commitment to continued collaboration with stakeholders to improve service delivery and support quality education nationwide.
