The Ghana Mining Industry Awards is back for its 12th edition, with the Ghana Chamber of Mines officially opening nominations for companies and professionals whose work shaped the country's mining sector during the 2025 reporting year.
The awards, launched on Wednesday, seek to recognise achievements in responsible mining, innovation, environmental stewardship, occupational safety, local content and community development.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, described the awards as one of the industry's most credible recognition platforms, stressing that every submission will undergo a thorough assessment.
Focus on credible nominations
Dr. Ashigbey urged eligible organisations and individuals to submit evidence that clearly demonstrates the impact of their work.
"Only verifiable submissions meeting the prescribed criteria will be considered," he said, noting that the evaluation process is designed to maintain the integrity of the awards.
According to the Chamber, all entries will be reviewed by an independent, multi stakeholder Awards Board, while the final results will undergo separate validation to ensure fairness.
This year's edition also introduces an online nominations portal to make the application process more convenient, although downloadable nomination forms will remain available.
Key dates announced
The awards feature 14 categories open to public nominations. However, technical honours covering areas such as environmental management, occupational health and safety, local content and exploration will be determined using verified data from institutions including the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Only activities undertaken during the 2025 reporting year will qualify for consideration, and nominees must provide clear evidence supporting their submissions.
Nominations opened on July 15 and will close on August 14, 2026. The Chamber expects to announce shortlisted nominees in early November before winners are unveiled at the awards ceremony scheduled for November 27.
The Chamber encouraged stakeholders across Ghana's mining value chain to participate, saying the awards continue to promote excellence while advancing a safer, more responsible and sustainable mining industry.
