The Ghana Police Service has arrested 68 suspects and seized 835 digital devices in a coordinated Interpol operation targeting cybercrime networks, as authorities intensify efforts to tackle technology driven fraud.
The operation also identified 108 victims, while investigators traced losses exceeding US$450,000 and recovered a significant portion of the stolen funds.
Director General of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, disclosed the figures on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the launch of the 2026 National Cyber Security Awareness Month for the Police Service and law enforcement community.
Intelligence and International Cooperation
COP Donkor said the operation demonstrated the value of intelligence led policing and cooperation between law enforcement agencies across borders.

She said the CID and its partners would continue identifying, disrupting and prosecuting people involved in cybercrime networks.
The Police Service is also expanding its capabilities through digital forensics, cyber intelligence and virtual asset investigations.
Cybercrime Knows No Borders
COP Donkor stressed that international cooperation has become essential because cybercriminals increasingly operate across jurisdictions.
Such partnerships allow investigators to track suspects, preserve digital evidence and follow the movement of illicit funds.
“Cybercrime may be borderless, but criminals are not beyond reach,” she said.
A separate 2025 operation by the Cyber Security Authority and CID near Tema resulted in 39 arrests and the seizure of several digital devices from a location suspected to be a cyber fraud hub.
The CID boss said the Police Service would continue strengthening its investigative capacity and partnerships to stay ahead of evolving cybercrime threats.
