Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Sampson Ahi, says the Green Innovation Fund Ghana has launched will help local businesses meet changing international trade requirements and compete more effectively in global markets.
Speaking at the fund’s launch during the Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition in Accra, Mr Ahi said the initiative would support the country’s transition towards a greener, more digital and export-oriented industrial economy.
“The Green Innovation Fund is more than a financing window; it is a bridge between Ghanaian innovation and global market opportunities,” he said.
Sustainability Standards Shape Market Access
Mr Ahi explained that businesses seeking international markets increasingly face requirements covering carbon emissions, climate standards and digital product passports.
He said Ghanaian manufacturers must prepare for these conditions to protect their access to export markets and take advantage of new opportunities.
The fund is intended to support enterprises in adopting cleaner technologies and improving their competitiveness.
Launching the initiative on behalf of the sector minister, Mr Ahi called on development partners, particularly the European Union, the Netherlands and France, to sustain their support for Ghana’s industrial transformation.
He said continued cooperation would help Ghanaian businesses respond to changing trade conditions while creating opportunities for shared economic growth.
