Joana Quaye Seeks Injunction Over Assets in Divorce Dispute With Richard Nii Armah Quaye

Joana Quaye has filed an application at the Divorce and Matrimonial Division of the Accra High Court seeking an injunction against her former husband, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, over a number of disputed assets and company shares acquired during their marriage.

The application asks the court to restrain Mr. Quaye from selling, transferring or disposing of selected properties and business interests pending the determination of an appeal related to the couple’s divorce settlement.

According to court documents filed by Dame & Partners on behalf of Mrs. Quaye, the disputed assets include interests in several companies, residential properties and luxury vehicles which she argues were jointly acquired during the marriage and should be subject to equitable distribution.

In an affidavit supporting the application, Mrs. Quaye traced the history of their relationship, stating that they met in 2002 after secondary school and later married in 2010.

She claimed she played a significant role in supporting Mr. Quaye’s education and early entrepreneurial ventures.

She further alleged that prior to their marriage, the couple operated a joint bank account and made investments together, proceeds of which were used to support his studies in the United Kingdom.

According to the affidavit, the pair later returned to Ghana and jointly explored business opportunities, eventually establishing a microfinance business that evolved into Quick Credit Company Limited, now known as Bills Micro Credit.

Claims of Removal From Company Records

Mrs. Quaye also claims that in 2011 the couple jointly incorporated Quick Micro Credit and Investment Limited, with both parties serving as directors and shareholders.

However, she alleges that her name was later removed from company records without her consent, an issue she said emerged during proceedings in the divorce case.

Among the assets referenced in the application are shareholding interests in companies including Quick Credit, Quick Angels, Waterfall Engineering, Tigon Entertainment, Ridge Medical Centre and CEQA Foods.

The filing also lists residential properties located in Trasacco Estates, East Legon, Dansoman and Mamprobi, alongside several luxury vehicles.

Mrs. Quaye is requesting the court to preserve the assets pending the outcome of her appeal, arguing that any sale or transfer could affect enforcement of a future judgment should the appeal succeed.

The affidavit additionally raises concerns about aspects of the original divorce judgment delivered on January 20, 2026. According to Mrs. Quaye, delays in obtaining the full written judgment affected her ability to fully exercise her right of appeal in the matter.
