Scores of volunteers flooded the streets of Accra early Saturday morning as Let Love Lead NGO held its 4th Annual Sanitation Drive, turning a stretch of the city's most congested neighbourhoods into a hive of civic action.

Armed with brooms, shovels and a shared resolve, participants descended on the route from Nima Market Overhead through Mamobi Gutter to Paloma from as early as 8:00 AM, clearing debris, desilting gutters and restoring dignity to communities that have long battled waste management challenges.

Big Dawood Leads from the Front

The drive was spearheaded by Dawood Akwasi Agyemang, popularly known as Big Dawood, Founder and President of Let Love Lead NGO, who was seen in the thick of the exercise alongside members.

Clad in the organisation's signature yellow and white branded kits, Agyemang led by example, rolling up his sleeves at the heavily silted Mamobi Gutter section of the route.

"Let Love Lead is not just a name, it is a call to action," Mr. Agyemang said, addressing volunteers and onlookers at the exercise.

"Every community deserves to live in a clean environment, and if the love we preach means anything, it must show in how we treat the spaces we share." - Dawood Akwasi Agyemang

Crowds Swell as Bystanders Join In

What began as an organised membership drive quickly became a broader community moment, with residents and passersby choosing to pick up tools and join the convoy as it moved through the route.

The sight of excavators, marching volunteers and cleanup crews drew attention and applause from shop owners and commuters along the way, many of whom expressed gratitude for the intervention.

Now in its fourth year, the Annual Sanitation Drive has grown into one of Accra's most visible community-led environmental campaigns.
