Naana Opoku-Agyemang Urges NDC Officials to Focus on Delivering Policies That Improve Lives

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged government officials and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain focused on implementing policies that deliver meaningful improvements in the lives of Ghanaians.

Speaking at the NDC June 4 Uprising Commemoration held in Banda on Thursday, June 4, the Vice President stressed that the party’s mission in government must be guided by its founding principles and commitment to addressing challenges facing citizens.

According to her, the NDC was formed with the objective of correcting governance shortcomings, and that purpose should continue to shape the actions of party members and public officials.

“There is a reason why we became a party that should never escape our minds. We became a party because we thought there was something going wrong.

"If we are here, we must right that wrong and ensure that the rightness that we have established remains.” - Vice President

Policies Must Deliver Tangible Results

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasised that government programmes should not exist only on paper but must translate into visible improvements in people's daily lives.

She noted that policies outlined in the party’s manifesto should be implemented in ways that directly enhance living standards and create opportunities for citizens across the country.

“Whatever policy we bring should translate in the physical and everyday life of people. Whatever policy that we worked so hard to manufacture in our manifesto must mean the way we are implementing this manifesto to better the lives of people.” - Vice President

The Vice President highlighted investments in critical sectors such as roads, healthcare, and education as examples of government’s commitment to using national resources for the collective benefit of citizens.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also praised Ministers of State and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for their efforts in advancing government programmes and development initiatives.

“This is how we are planning to spend national resources, in the way that benefits all of us,” she added.

Her remarks underscored the administration’s emphasis on accountability, service delivery, and ensuring that government policies produce measurable outcomes that improve the welfare of Ghanaians.
