GES Interdicts Two Watchmen Over Alleged Sexual Assault at Bolgatanga Girls SHS

Police in the Upper East Region are currently holding two security guards employed at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School after they were implicated in an alleged sexual assault involving a highly vulnerable student.

The Ghana Education Service immediately stepped in and stripped the men of their campus duties while formal police investigations continue.

The harrowing incident occurred right on the school premises when the victim, officially described as a special needs student, suffered an unexpected medical emergency.

Educational authorities disclosed that the teenager was already on prescribed medication and experienced a severe relapse that required urgent attention. Instead of securing help, the two watchmen reportedly took advantage of her incapacitation during this critical window.

Swift Administrative Action

Management at the national education headquarters did not wait for a prolonged police probe to conclude before initiating their own administrative actions.

"As an initial step, the two watchmen were arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigation," stated Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations for the Service. "In addition, Management has interdicted them with immediate effect."

Fenyi confirmed that whatever the criminal investigators uncover will directly inform the final internal disciplinary measures.

He made it abundantly clear that the suspects will face the full weight of the internal code of conduct alongside national criminal prosecution if found guilty.

Zero Tolerance for Abuse

These disturbing reports have prompted a sweeping internal warning directed at all teaching and nonteaching staff across the country.

The public relations chief emphasized that protecting the dignity and physical wellbeing of learners remains an absolute priority for the state.

"Management further cautions that the Service will not tolerate any conduct that compromises the safety and wellbeing of students," the press statement read.

While the local school community reels from the shock of the incident, the national education directorate is urging absolute calm.

They have assured parents and guardians that this horrific breach of trust is being treated with the utmost seriousness it deserves.
