Ghana IMF sixth review has officially commenced, marking a crucial stage in the country’s ongoing economic reform programme with the International Monetary Fund.
Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson received the IMF mission team led by Ruben Atoyan in Accra, describing Ghana’s recovery journey since the 2022 crisis as “transformative” and a clear success.
According to the minister, the programme has played a key role in stabilising the economy, restoring policy credibility, and renewing confidence among citizens.
“Progress does not permit complacency,” Dr. Forson emphasised, noting that government is focused on consolidating gains and advancing reforms.
The IMF team also described the review as a major milestone, commending Ghana’s progress under the programme.
Focus on Jobs and Investment
Dr. Forson indicated that the next phase of reforms will prioritise private sector growth, with the aim of translating economic stability into increased investment, job creation, and broader opportunities.
He disclosed that key policy decisions will be taken before the end of the IMF mission to guide the next stage of the reform agenda.
The meeting was attended by senior government and financial sector officials, including Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem and Bank of Ghana Governor Johnson Asiama, highlighting the importance of the review to Ghana’s economic outlook.
