Jordan Ayew joins Sheffield United on a free transfer after signing a one year contract with the English Championship club.
The 34 year old Ghana captain had been without a club since leaving Leicester City in July following the expiration of his contract.
His arrival gives Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder another experienced option across the attacking positions. “I am really pleased to have Jordan with us,” Wilder said after the deal was announced on Tuesday.

Blades turn to experience
Sheffield United have won only once in their opening five league matches, placing early pressure on Wilder’s side to find consistency.
Ayew arrives with more than a decade of experience in English football. He has represented Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, operating as a centre forward and in wider attacking roles.
“He did well at this level last season in difficult circumstances and has played all across the front positions during his career, which gives us plenty of options,” Wilder added.
The Blades previously used the free agent market to recruit Patrick Bamford and Jaïro Riedewald, a strategy Wilder believes can work again.
For Ayew, the move offers regular club football as he continues leading Ghana. For Sheffield United, it is a calculated short term deal: experience, versatility and no transfer fee.
