The Kingdom of Dagbon has been thrown into mourning following the death of His Royal Majesty, the King of Dagbon, whose passing was announced by the Royal Family, the Chiefs and Elders of Dagbon.
A statement released said the revered traditional ruler died on Saturday night. In keeping with Dagbon custom, all required traditional rites were immediately performed before his burial at Katina.
A Kingdom Reflects on His Legacy
The announcement described the late King as a unifying figure whose leadership left a lasting mark on the kingdom.
"Today, Dagbon mourns the loss of a revered father, a wise leader, and a custodian of our rich heritage," the statement said.
It added that his "reign, wisdom, humility, and unwavering dedication to the peace and unity of Dagbon will forever remain etched in our hearts."
The passing of the monarch marks the end of a reign remembered for its commitment to preserving the traditions of Dagbon while promoting stability within the kingdom.
Prayers for the Late Monarch
The Royal Family called on the public to remember the late King in prayer, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
The statement also prayed for strength and comfort for the Royal Family, the Chiefs and Elders, and the people of Dagbon as they mourn the loss of their traditional ruler.
"Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un. May Allah have mercy on the soul of our beloved King. Ameen," the statement concluded.
