President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic transparency in Ghana, assuring workers that the true state of the economy will always be disclosed.

Speaking during a meeting with Organised Labour at the Jubilee House in Accra, the President emphasised that his administration has nothing to conceal.

“This government has nothing to hide. What you see is what you get… The statistics that we give you are the true state of the economy.” - President John Dramani Mahama.

“National cake” must be clearly defined.

President Mahama stressed the importance of transparency in resource allocation, noting that stakeholders must first understand the country’s financial capacity before decisions are made.

“Today we will show what the size of the national cake is before we all decide how we share,” he explained, adding that misconceptions often arise when citizens are unaware of the true economic situation.

According to him, providing accurate data will ensure that expectations are aligned with reality and promote fairness in discussions around wages and resource distribution.

Growth is key to improving living standards.

The President further noted that expanding the economy remains the only sustainable path to improving livelihoods and increasing the share of resources available to citizens.

“The only way to get a bigger share is to grow the cake bigger, and that is what this government is about,” he stated.

The meeting forms part of ongoing consultations between the government and key stakeholders aimed at strengthening dialogue on economic conditions, wages, and national development priorities.

Officials say the engagement underscores the administration’s focus on building trust and fostering collaboration with labour unions as Ghana navigates its economic recovery.
