The New Patriotic Party has opened applications for members seeking to contest the NPP parliamentary primaries ahead of the 2028 General Elections, setting a GH¢5,000 application fee for prospective candidates.
The application window opened on Sunday, November 1, and will close on November 10, 2026, giving interested members 10 days to formally declare their intention to contest.
The party says applicants must complete an expression of interest form through its designated online portal as the first step in the parliamentary candidate selection process.
Under the campaign message, “Your journey to Parliament begins with preparation,” the NPP is encouraging interested members to begin the process early as it prepares for the 2028 elections.
GH¢5,000 Fee Applies to All Aspirants
The GH¢5,000 fee applies to all prospective parliamentary candidates, including sitting NPP Members of Parliament seeking to retain their seats.
General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has explained that the declaration of intent is an initial administrative stage and does not amount to the formal opening of nominations.
Applicants will subsequently go through vetting and screening to determine whether they meet the party’s eligibility requirements.
The NPP also plans to organise capacity building workshops for prospective candidates in December across the Northern, Middle and Southern zones.
Campaign Ban Remains in Force
The party has cautioned that submitting an application does not give aspirants permission to begin campaigning.
Its existing directive suspending parliamentary campaign activities remains in force until candidates receive official clearance.
The application process marks the start of the NPP’s preparations to select parliamentary candidates across the country ahead of the 2028 polls.
Interested members have until November 10 to complete the required declaration and pay the application fee.
